A Few Things I Learned from Nietzsche

Friedrich Nietzsche was an influential philosopher who left a lasting impact not just on his generation but one that has affected us as well. Nietzsche was very different from other philosophers such as Plato and believed that there are no rules for human life. he believed that if truth can truly be achieved if at all, it can only be from someone who disregards everything that society says is important. Many of Nietzsche’s philosophies have a huge impact on our own lives.

Will to power

We all innately want to grow as powerful as we can. However, not many people understand that suffering leads to growth. This has unfortunately led to the creation of “get rich quick” schemes that prey on peoples internal mechanisms. If you have a will to live you need a will to power. You can never stop growing in life. Otherwise you will lose your momentum and come crumbling back down to where you started. After reading this it shocked me why people would want to live a “normal” life with out any power. People hide their instincts for the appreciation of others who have that same instinct.

Be the best version of yourself

There is a difference between attaining wisdom and just learning. Wisdom is understanding the difference between good and bad and truly becoming a righteous human being. If we stop seeking wisdom we stop becoming the best version of ourselves and we settle into normalcy. Normalcy is not something we should strive for. What do we accomplish with just being the same as everyone else?

Even people who attempt to be the best version of themselves end up settling into normalcy by just swallowing information about philosophers and regurgitating it on paper instead of understanding it. We should appreciate the great philosophers before us but we shouldn’t follow their steps exactly. It is our obligation to ourselves to make our own path

Our responsibility for ourselves

We should never complain in life. Otherwise you don’t have full control over your life. We are directly responsible everything we do. The only reason we exist is because we think for ourselves and live on our own terms. If you complain and don’t take responsibility in life you are doing yourself a huge disservice. If we lose control over our lives and think of life as random occurrences that affect us, are we even really alive?

Nietzsche’s true message through his writings was to free us about false ideologies about our morality. He stressed that we shouldn’t live how society deems acceptable. We should live the way we want to. You can learn more about his philosophies through his publications and teachings. The best way to truly understand his principles is by identifying them in your life.
